Firewall protect your home network from offensive websites and potential hackers. Firewalls also help prevent unauthorized access to or from your computer by filtering the information coming through the Internet connection into your computer. Firewalls are reccommended for people with a permanent DL connection, cable modem or dial-up access.

Computer barriers like this are almost impossible to penetrate, which is why thieves try to obtain access codes and passwords.

Although some computers come with a standard operating system firewall, it is not sufficient to keep out intruders. An additional firewall, that will detect new forms of attacks or attempted intrusions, should be installed and upgraded regularly. Firewalls can be hardware or software, or a combination of both.
